Project SEED accepting donations to feed local children

New Kensington-Arnold Project SEED volunteers will have the first packing day of the school year at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alle-Kiski Center for Active Adults, 1039 Third Ave., New Kensington.

Program co-founder Joanne Cecchi estimates that Project SEED will feed approximately 230 children each week in the district’s elementary schools and provide a free food pantry to students in the upper elementary, and middle and high school buildings. This will be the 10th year that Project SEED will provide weekend food bags for children in need.

Lower Burrell church to sponsor touch-a-truck event

Christian Assembly of God will host a touch-a-truck event in honor of first responders from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road.

A worship service will begin at 10 a.m. at the VFW. After the service there will be trucks, games and treats. The public is welcome.

Dance planned for adults with special needs

A dance for young adults with special needs will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Laube Hall, 115 Community Park Road, Freeport.

Cost is $25 per attendee, and $15 for a chaperone, and includes snacks and drinks. There will be a DJ, dancing and a limbo contest. Those attending must be at least 16 years old. All staff including the DJ has clearances.
